Gothard family in Barnsley - Barnsley
Looking for any information on the Gothard or Trout families in and around Barnsley or West Riding generally. Details I have are (working backwards): - my grandmother Lina Gothard emigrated to Australia in 1922 at age 10 with her brother William (13), sister Vera (9) and mother Martha Fitchley Gothard (nee Trout). Martha was born in 1884 and her parents may have been John and Annie. I have a listing of Martha in the 1901 census at age 16 working as a Domestic servant in Bentley with Arksey. - Martha married John Willey (or Willie) Gothard, year unknown. John was born in 1879 in Barnsley and was killed in action on 26 August 1914 in France, possibly at the Battle of Le Cateau. He was a Private (No. 7323) in the 2nd Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. - John's parents were Wilfred and Sarah Ann Gothard, born in 1847 and 1850 repsectively. I don't know Sarah's maiden name. From the 1881 census I have them all living in Carlton Terrace, Carlton in Barnsley and Wilfred working as a Colliery Lamp Keeper. Well that's it - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heeley in Barnsley, Gawber, Higham, Dodworth areas - Barnsley
I am looking for information about the family of my Great Grandmother Mary Heeley. Mary was b 6.6.1892 at Dodworth, and appears to be the youngest daughter out of 5 born to George Heeley and his wife Eliza Jane (nee Bradley). George and Eliza were married on Xmas day at Darton Parish Church 1880. They appear to have at least 5 daughters, Jane (1881) Annie (1885) Amy (1887) Eliza (1890) and Mary (1892). I have found birth certs for all but Annie (who appears aged 6 on the 1891 census where the family were living at Woodvale Cottages in Dodworth. I am trying to find a birth or baptism record for Annie (I suspect this could be a pet name or variation). If anyone has any info or could do a look up that would be excellent. I am also trying to find out if George and Eliza Jane had another child between Jane and Annie and after Mary as there is a reasonable gap between the 2 older girls. Perhaps the children died in infancy and would not have shown up on 1891 or 1901 censuses. I have marriage records for all 4 of the sisters except Annie and at least 2 of the sisters were born in Dodworth, although I also have Higham, Gawber and Barnsley listed too. Many thanks for any help.

They had a daughter Florence b.c1882, so if there are any descendants of Florence out there, get in touch please! Bailey/Lewis - Barnsley
I am looking for a Thomas Archibald Bailey Lewis, who married my great-aunt in 1919. I have been unable to find his birth, but have found the birth cert of Thomas Archibald Bailey, born 10 Jan 1898 in Wakefield Prison, son of Edith Agnes Bailey of 5 Brunswick Terr, Dodsworth Rd, Barnsley & Thomas George Bailey, who was a Sanitary Painter (Master). Since I found on the newly released 1911 census a Thomas Archibald Lewis born c 1898 (born Barnsley)living with Richard & Annie Elizabeth Lewis (& also found them on 1901 census living in Normanton, Wakefield, my feeling is that Thomas Archibald Bailey was adopted by them & thereafter used the surname Lewis. I found evidence on 1901 census of a George Bailey (his biological father?)in Sheffield Asylum & listed as a Painter Labourer. What if Thomas Archibald Bailey was born whilst his mother was in prison as an inmate or visiting her inmate husband - as a lunatic, the father was later transferred to Sheffield (his home town) & the hapless infant was put up for adoption. Does anybody know any more or how I can trace this information if true? Thank you.
