Looking for WASHINGTON/SUTCLIFFE connection. My G G G grandfther William WASHINGTON married Rachel SUTCLIFFE, on 11 Aptil 1814, in the Kirkheaton Parish church. Rachel was born Dalton/Kirkheaton in 1796. They had four children born between 1815 and 1821. Rachel apprently died from complication relating to the birth of their last child James in Dec 1821. She is noted as being buried in Jan 1822 in the Kirkheaton Parish church graveyard.
Rachel is not in my direct line, her children became the step brother and sister to my G G G grandfather Robert. William married his third wife my G G G grandmother Ellen, in Oct 1832.

Ellen Cundall, born 06 Jan 1807, daughter of William and Sarah nee Hirst, married my G G G grandfather William Washington in Oct 1832. This was the third marriage for William and the second for Ellen. Ellen had been previously married to Titus Knight. This marriage took place in the Almondbury Parish church.
Ellen's father William was born in Huddersfield in 1776. He was a Cloth Dresser. Sarah Hirst,was born in 1773. They were married in the Huddersfield Parish Church on 10 May 1801.
Ellen who is my G G G grandmother died in 1863.

In the mid-1600s, my branch changed their name back to Methley. The Methleys branched out to Doncaster, Royston, Sheffield and Barnsley also in the mid-1600s. The Medleys are more prolific and there are lots in the USA.

Hi trying to trace the Roberts family, James Roberts was born around 1809 in Campsall he married Mary Limbert at Darrington around 1833 but his name shows as James Robert Cowood this is were I get stuck.All records thereafter refer to him as just James Roberts
