Michael Caden and Caden family, Ireland to Birmingham - Birmingham
Michael Caden appears on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 census returns. In 1851 when living at Court 20 Aston Road, Aston, Birmingham he is married to Mary Ann, with a daughter Sarah (b1848)and son John (b1850). Michael was a polisher. In 1861 and again in 1871 Michael's family was expanded and his job had changed to a Beer retailer, living at the "Woolpack Inn" 362 Summer Lane, Birmingham. He died in 1878, but in 1881 his widow was still at same address. Recently I obtained a copy of Michael's marriage certificate and have now gone one generation back. He married Mary Ann Lowry on February 22nd 1846 at St Chad's Roman Catholic Cathedral, Birmingham. His job is a German Spoon Maker. Both parties were living at Litchfield Street, Birmingham. His father was CONNOR CADEN a labourer. There are a couple of births in an index for St Chad's (the pervious church as the catherdral was only built in 1839-41) in the mid 1830's stating parents as Connor Caden and Maria Frierly/Freayaly a daughter Ellena Caden 1834 and son Connor Caden 1835. Are these a connection to Michael?. Caden is such a rare name. When did Connor senior come from Ireland to Birmingham? Does anyone have any clues - and is there a connection to County Mayo, Ireland?
