Eleanor Treadle-son William Mace - Alcester
Wanting information on Eleanor Treadle born about 1792 and died June 1, 1818 in Alcester. Her illegitimate son was born about 1814. Does anyone know anything of the Britton family, who lived at Alcester Heath House, Kings Coughton, Alcester, in the 1880s? John James Britton - previously of Birmingham and a published but minor poet and novelist - lived there with his family and practised as a solicitor in Butter Lane, Alcester, until the business collapsed in about 1888. Is the property still inhabited? It's really his grandson, the writer Lionel Britton, who interests me, but any family information would be most welcome. Tony

Seeking any descendants of Vincent & Hannah Ward from King's Coughton Alcester. Vincent was born 1828 and lived with his family Henry, Sarah Ann, Fanny, Elizabeth (dec'd 1861)Frederick, John, Rosannah (dec'd 1868?) and Jane. Does anyone know what happened to William Francis Payne, born circa 1892. I believe he may have died in the Great War as his wife later remarried, and he appears to have dies early enough that he passes beyond the memory of anyone alive at the moment.

HORTON's around Alcester? - Alcester
My great grand mother was Mary Ellen (a.k.a. Helena) Horton, born Bunker's Hill Farm, Coughton, Alcester on December 25th, 1854. Her parents were Thomas Horton (1830) and Elizabeth (nee Bennett)1834. She had sisters Lucy and Mary K. Horton. They married Enoch Hunt and Thomas Cowie respectively. It's believed my grand mother Helena was a Governess to the Throckmorton children of that area. She married Walter Woods Sherman in October 1878 in Coughton, district of Alcester. Does any of this information seem familiar? I would love to hear from you.

haines family - Alcester
I am researching my family history and would like to learn more about the Haines family. My great-great-grandfather Charles Haines was born in Stratford on Avon c1833. He married a lady whose christian name was Ellen and they had 3 children - Alfred born in Bretforton in c1863, William born in Bevington, Salford c1866 and Thomas born Coughton c1868. Alfred my great-grandfather married Ellen Knight on the 23 October 1889 at The Baptist Chapel in the district of Alcester. Ellen was born c1866 in Pitchill and her father was an agricultural labourer George Knight. Caroline Knight was a witness at the wedding and I believe she was Ellen's sister - I have a bible presented to Caroline in 1875. Alfred and Ellen had a son and daughter. George was born in Bevington, Salford in 1890 and shortly after that the family moved to Liverpool where their daughter Alice was born. Alfred died in Liverpool in 1919, Ellen lived until December 1950. George married Dorothy Moore and had two daughters Kathleen Dorothy and Jean Margaret and Alice married William Bevan and they had a daughter Wyn. I would welcome any information on either the Haines or Knight family.

I am trying to trace relations of William & Elizabeth Palmer of Alcester Lodge Farm circa 1876. William and Elizabeth were my ggrandparents and my grandfather Henry Palmer was born at Alcester Lodge Farm on 14/8/1876. Other children of William and Elizabeth were: Herbert William, Elsie J, Kate. I am interested to know any Palmer family in the Alcester area that may be descendants from the same family. My grandfather moved to Birmingham in 1900 for work and eventually up to the North West of England where my father and his brothers and sisters were born.

I am searching for an ancester, William West, said to be of Alcester, Warwickshire, who may have married Ann Fones, some time before 1727, when a son, also William was born. A grandson John West was born about 1745 at Mancetter, Warcs. John may have married Elizabeth Davis (at that time a widow) at St.Philip's Church, Birmingham,in about 1770, and had eleven children baptised at that church. My first entry was incomplete. Abraham was a farmer until he sold the farm, Ox Hayes, in 1870. In 1880 he sailed to Algoa Bay, now Port Elizabeth, leaving his wife,Sarah, and son, Henry, at S's mother's in Birmingham. We know he arrived there, but there is no trace of him after that, and I wonder if anyone out there has information concerning him.

Jane Ison & William Izon - Ansty
Jane Ison was born in Ansty between 1820-1824 and had two sons Henry Ison(c1843) and William Ison(1846) before marrying William Train in 1848. She had at least six more children before William Train died(c1860). Jane went on to marry Richard Dewis in 1866 who died pre-1871 then William Elson in 1877. Jane's son William Ison(Izon) married Martha Salsbury in 1870 then Mary Ann Heathcote (nee Lightfoot) in 1899. I can provide more details on these people but would appreciate help in tracing Jane's parents and siblings.
