Uridges of Buxted - Buxted
Does anyone have access to the Buxted Parish Records as I'm trying to find information on the parents of Thomas Uridge c1733 and his siblings and also of his wife Mary Hider c1740. I have checked the Uridge One-Name Study website and IGI but cannot go back any further. IGI does list other Uridge's born around the same time as Thomas who could possibly be his siblings but none of the records state who their parents were so am unable to confirm either way.

WHITES - Catsfield
We are trying to track my husbands family.
Kathleen Naomi WHITE born 1899 was working and living at Home Farm Catsfield when she had a daughter Kitty Margaret Mary White on May 16th 1920. The father is not shown on the birth certificate.
Apparently it was a family secret who the dad was!!
Kitty married Edward Albert Hayler in 1940.
Any info on Kitty, Kathleen or the absent father would be great.

Adams 1800's - Catsfield
Looking for any information on Charles and Mary ADAMS born about 1763 and 1767. I wonder if her surname was CRAMP. If so they married about 1784. I have 5 children listed Mary (1789 christening), Thomas (18000) William (1803), Stephen (1806) and George (christened 19 Mar, 1809).
George went on to marry Elizabeth (?Bean) on 12 Dec, 1832 at Bexhill. They also had a son George, born 6 Aug, 1837 and married to a Hannah Haddon about 1863 before the whole family migrated to New Zealand in 1874. Would love any help with this family. Thank-you. Catsfield, Sussex - HOBBS family - Catsfield
Does anyone have information about Hophouse Farm. My great grandfather, William HOBBS (bn abt 1810 Battle) lived there 1851-1871 with his wife Harriet (nee PAINE), before moving to Rye, where he died.
His son Frederick was born at Hophouse Farm, later becoming a millwright, married Emily UPFIELD (bn Warbleton) and lived at The Stream from 1871 onwards.
Any information about people or houses, area etc. would be most welcome.

Chailey - Ww1 - Chailey
Researching two VAD hospitals located in Chailey/Newick during WW1. The first, Hickwells, operated from March 1915 to June 1916. The VAD unit - Sussex/54 - then re-located to larger premises at Beechland House in nearby Newick where it operated until 1918. I have some information already but seek additional material on all things Chailey 1914-18, particularly the local residents. Chailey was home to a number of prominent families - Blencowe, Cotesworth, Ingram, Bessemer - amongst others, and the village war memorial commemorates 49 local men - some from Newick - who lost their lives during the Great War. All information relating to Chailey gratefully received.

Various spellings - Braysher, Brayzer, Brazer, Brazier - depending on how 'officialdom' in the shape of Census Enumerators and the Clergy wrote it down at the time.
I am interested in any Brayshers. My direct descendant is James Braysher, born Chailey 1826. He married Susan BERRY, born Lindfield, 1835.
By 1881 they were living at Ox Bottom , Newick.

James WICKS married Sarah MANNERS on the 19th October 1803 at Newick, Sussex. He was 'of Maresfield'. They both died in the Union House, Lewes in the 1850s having lived in Lewes St. John's (sub-castro) parish.
Their son James (1805 - ) emigrated to Australia in 1854 and has many descendants.

I am looking into my nans' side of the family and am looking to find out about my gt uncle Ivor Comer (formerly the village bobby). He married my gt aunt Audrey Dadson and had a daughter that I know of.
Also on the hunt for info of my husbands mother Grace Lister, we do know she was in Chailey Heritage as a young girl as she was born with a deformed foot, she died in '87 in Hailsham aged early 80's/late 70's. She married a Reg Jones and had two boys, there is also a half sister to these boys.

Jenner/Smith/Sandalls of Chailey - Chailey
My grandfather Charles Smith was possibly the illigitimate son of Eunice Smith. Eunice, possibly Eunice Susan Smith came from Chailey and her parents are believed to be Richard Smith and Susan nee Jenner. Eunice was an uneducated housemaid in Brighton and possibly had an older child Ada Eunice. Charles was bought up by the Sandalls family and I believe the Smiths, Jenners and Sandalls families had close ties in Chailey and possibly Lewis. Would love contact from relatives of any of these families. Thanks.

A marriage took place between Henry Harris and Ann Piper in Chalvington on 21st April 1820. It is possible that these are ancestors of mine (I have an ancestor born in nearby Litlington whose parents were called Henry Harris and Ann), but I don't know for sure.
