Simmons Mather Sainsbury
- Kingston Upon Thames
I am trying to locate information about, or relatives of Mathias Clack Simmons, born around 1861, married to Ada Lydia (Sainsbury). They were parents of my mother, Rose Ellen, born Nov. 28th 1905, lived at 124 Richmond Park Road. Mathias was a bookkeeper at Benskins Brewery, Ada was a housewife.
The only other relative I know much about was a sister of my mother's, my Aunt Tillie Mathers. I believe her husband was Tom. She had a son (my cousin), Brian, with whom I corresponded when I was very young. He would be about my age now (mid-sixties).
My mother attended school at Fountain Road School and a school on Chippendell Road??
Any info on people or any of these institutions or the business, would be greatly appreciated.

Connected To The Artist Romney??
- Lambeth
THOMAS ROMNEY married ELIZABETH WEBBER he was a master printer. In 1827 the ROMNEY family ran the SURREY PRINTING OFFICE from 7, Bridge Road LAMBETH. THOMAS ROMNEY junior was to become a compositor and help run the family business. Eventually they moved further up Bridge Rd as shown on the 1841 census. THOMAS junior `married` (no trace found!) ANNIE KIDWELL from BARNSTAPLE, Devon. Their daughter, CAROLINE married THOMAS JOSEPH WILDER in 1890. Family ledgend says that `our` ROMNEY was descended from the family of GEORGE ROMNEY the Artist. We have never been able to find any truth in this story though the unmarried daughter, ANNE who cared for her widowed father (THOMAS junior) was said to have owned an original painting by the artist but, again, no trace! I have traced the first THOMAS & his family back to NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE but, with regard to the artistic connection, can any one put me out of my misery please?
