Botting Family of Albury - (Albury - Surrey)
Charles Arthur Botting moved to Albury in the mid nineteenth century and with his brother, Maurice, operated the Albury Flour Mill. The Mill was initially at the eastern end of the village and the original Mill building still stands, together with the red 2 storey house next door. When I last saw it in 2007, it was being re-developed so hopefully it is still there. However, the Mill became too small and the family moved to the west of the village to Postford Mill, on the border with the next village. This was a relatively modern brick block building, with two ponds to provide water to the water turbines. The Mill buildings were demolished about 15 years ago and the site is now occupied by up-market houses. The two ponds still remain. The Mill remained in the family until about 15 years ago.
