I am looking into the Chard family tree and can trace back to Joshua Chard the Suffolk Hero. Apparently he was brought to Aldringham, Suffolk by his mother's sister referred to as just Mrs Osborne who was living in Stone Cottage. I presume Mrs Osborne's maiden name was Chard and she would have come from Dorset originally.

Ardley of Colchester and Assington
- Assington
William Ardley and his wife Hannah Firman-Pope owned a coffee shop for many years on the site of what is now the Leicester Square Odeon. He always give his place of birth as Colchester.I have traced William back to the only viable entry in Colchester, i.e. 1796 (parents Jonathan and Mary (nee Osborne). I have a Settlement Certificate addressed to the parish of St. Mary, Colchester (dated 1790) from the Churchwardens of Assington certifying that Jonathan Ardley and his wife and two children had been settled in Assington. The Overseers were Joseph WARNER and John WARREN. I have been unable to get back any further. Jonathan married Mary Osborne in 1787 in Colchester, and all their children were baptised there. Did Jonathan and Mary originally come from Assington? Any help gratefully received.

Jeremiah Kerry (carpenter) born Bacton in 1845 is son of John Kerry & Mary Ann Kersey Other children were: John Kersey, James, William, Eunice, Mary Ann, Ralph and Elizabeth. By 1865 he is in Middlesex, marries Emma Orford at Clerkenwell. Children are George, James, Frederick, William, John, Florence, Emma and Robert.
When James born, 1868, and in 1871 census, father's name given as Jermiah Kerry but in 1881 census, given as George. Age, wife, children's names make it certain he is same man.
