Gooch
- Cowlinge
I have been tracing my Gooch family tree and have got as far as the 1700s in Cowlinge, but have now unfortunately drawn a blank. I am trying to find the death/burial date of John Gooch (wife Mary Brooks)and whether he was born and, if so when, in Cowlinge. I know that he and Mary married at Cowlinge Church and that they had a number of children, John, William, Samuel, Joseph and Sarah. I would be grateful for any help as I have been stumped for a number of years now and unfortunately many of the original records at the Records office in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, are unreadable.

THOMAS CHARLES ROLLS
- Cowlinge
Thomas Charles ROLLS was born in Blandford, Dorset in Mar 1854. In 1881 he was a master at the newly established school in Cowlinge, together with his sister Catherine. In Jan 1884 he married Elizabeth Marrow, who was the village shopkeeper. Their family included Thomas Charles (1884), Violet Elizabeth (1885), Alice Mary (1887) and Mabel (1890). Neither the marriage or baptisms of these children took place in Cowlinge. In 1891 Elizabeth Rolls is shown as married and head of the household; it looks as if he has 'done a runner'and there is a new master at the school. Can anyone throw light on this intriguing mystery?

Morris family - 1800s
- Cratfield
Looking for any descendants of William Morris, married variously to Mary Palmer, Hannah Girling, Sarah Haward, Hephzibah Woolnough. William was a farmer - probably at North Green. Certainly he was living there from early 1800s till after 1871. Mary Morris (nee Palmer) is buried in Cratfield parish churchyard, but I can find no record of burial of William or his later wives. William's youngest daughter Hannah was still living in Cratfield in 1881, but married and left in 1883. The other three children of William's third marriage had left earlier - for the South of England & NZ. Any information about the family would be much appreciated.
