Hassall, Cope Davis
- Longton
Hi from New Zealand. Great site. My grandfather Charles HASSALL was born in Trentham 1880 in Wise St. He came to NZ in 1906 and my grandmother Sarah E COPE was born in Longton 1879 arriving a year later and soon married. Grandfathers parents were William HASSALL (died aged 46) and Jane nee DAVIS. She remarried Herbert BRANDRICK. They had a son born about 1897. It was after this it was told to me that she went to buy a loaf of bread in the fog and was knocked down by a buggy and killed. Any one out there know this story. I believe she is burried at Stone. Many thanks

Penn or Penn Lower Staffordshire
- Lower Penn
I am looking for more information about my gt-gt-grandmother, Sarah Spicer, bc 1854 in Penn Lower. She gave birth to my gt-grandfather William Thomas Spicer (illegitimate) in 1875 but in 3Q 1877 married William Elcock or Ellcock, b1830 in Penn.
According to the census their first child, Alice, was born in 1877 but I haven't found her birth record yet. I am trying to find out whether William Elcock was the father of William Thomas, who kept the name of Spicer all his life. Sarah's father was named Thomas, so it seems likely that William was WT's father's name.
