Hall Orchard House, Cheadle - (Cheadle - Staffordshire)
I am interested in the history of Hall Orchard House, Cheadle. My great-grandmother lived there with her sister for the last few years of her life. I think her sister, Martha Jane Walters , a retired teacher, may have owned the house. Several of her sisters lived there at some point and they are buried in St Giles' Churchyard. My great-grandmother, Emily Roberts, died in 1914 and Martha died in 1917. The house is in the Cheadle conservation area, although it is not a listed building.

Wignall/Gaskill/Sharp - (Cheadle - Staffordshire)
May Gaskill Sharp was the illegitimate daughter of Jane Gaskill and Colin Sharp and was born in Horninglow in 1892. Her mother took May to Birmingham, dying there of liver failure due to alcohol misuse when May was just five. I believe May was taken in by her aunt Minnie Wignall (wife of David Wignall) in Cheadle, but I can find no trace of May in the 1901 census. It's possible that her aunt called her by a different name because of the scandal of her birth, and the circumstances of her mother's death. May next surfaces in 1911 as May Gaskill (having dropped Sharp)as a servant in a boarding house in London, where she later married John Henry Bentley. May died young of cancer, but her only child John is now 83 and would love to know anything of what happened to his mother between 1897 when she was orphaned, and 1911 when she shows up in the Westminster census. Is anyone able to shed any light, please?
Family Surnames: Wignall/Gaskill/Sharp
