Darlaston-Newhall-Leicestershire
- Darlaston
I am looking into my great-grandmother's mother's family, Horne. William Horne, born c. 1801 in Worthington Leicestershire, first married Hannah Mellor, of Derbyshire, in 1821, in Church Gresley, Derbyshire (near Burton-on-Trent). They had at least three, if not more, children. William born c. 1823, Joseph, born c. 1833 and Elizabeth, born c. 1835. All of the children were born in Newhall, Derbyshire (also close to Burton-on-Trent). Hannah died in June 1938 (registered Burton-on-Trent)and William remarried an Elizabeth Watkins, of Winshill, Derbyshire in the Jul-Sept qtr. of 1841, registered at Burton-on-Trent. The family turn up as living in Darlaston, Staffs on the 1851 Census, where William is working as a Brickmaker, William the son, as an Ironstone miner, Joseph also as an Ironstone miner, and Elizabeth as apparently unoccupied (though I doubt it). Elizabeth married William Harper in 1855, had my great-grandmother to be, Hannah, in 1857 and then died within days or weeks after Hannah's birth. Elizabeth Horne's christening took place at St John's Newhall, on 22 Feb 1835, where her father and mother are given as William and Hannah Horne. Does anyone know anything more about these people and their families?
