Fields/Veal of Lympsham - Lympsham, Somerset
I have been researching the Field(s) family of Lympsham for some time and have quite a lot of information about the family during the 19th century. They were firmly entrenched in and around Lympsham. However, I have just discovered that some of the early 19th century baptism records give the name as 'Field alias Veal'or 'Veal alias Field'. I am fascinated to discover why this was. If anyone is interested in either the Field/Veal family or knows something of the social history of Lympsham which may shed some light, I would be delighted to hear from them and share what I already know. Many thanks.

HORSEY family of Maperton - Maperton, Somerset
I am researching my great great great grandfather, James HORSEY who was born in Maperton in 1801. He is recorded in 1841 and 1851 census as living in North Street, Wincanton and working as a 'Cooper'. He married Elizabeth MICHELL of Charlton Musgrove and they had ten children from 1826 to 1844, all in Wincanton. The 1861 census shows James to have become a 'Farmer of 33 acres employing one boy' at 'Verrington Farm', Wincanton, only a mile or so from the former North Street address. James died in 1864 at Wincanton.
His second youngest son Henry HORSEY married Emma Jane GODFREY of Horsington at Wincanton in 1860, they had two sons Tom 1866 and Birt 1879. Henry and family migrated to New South Wales around 1880 where they pioneered the dairy industry at Byron Bay, 1892 - 1908, then Cooran and Atherton in Queensland until Birt passed away in 1959 at Cairns, Queensland, Australia.
I am hoping to contact other researchers of the area especially if they know anything of the HORSEY family at Maperton, that is James' siblings and parents, cousins etc
