I am looking for information re Samuel Douch, I know nothing at all about this person except that he was named as the father of Walter Harrison (born in East Coker in 1830 to Theresa Harrison)and that he was working as a gardener, this information I have got from a "bastardy bond" sworn out against him. Sadly Theresa died within 12 months of Walter being born and in 1841, he can be found in the Yeovil workhouse. I have alot of information about Walter Harrison but any information received about Samuel Douch would be much appreciated.

Hi, I am looking for information on maps of east coker for the time of 1870's. I have found some maps, but they do not show up all road, lane, street names. I am looking particularly for Burton Road and from what I can make out from the census record, either West Coker Street or North Coker Street. These address' are where Police Constable Nathaniel Cox lived in 1871 and the Burton Road address is where his widow lived in 1881. Can anyone help with this information. Thanks Clive.

Looking for any Rendall family that came from Chew Magna Somerset or areas near to this.
Thomas Rendall married Martha Parker in 1780 St Andrews Chew Magna - Their Son James Rendall born 1780 married Elizabeth Sanders - a lot of the males in the family were Edge tool makers or Blacksmiths.
The First Thomas was born c1719 - he may have been born in Litton far from Liton Somerset which is not too far from Chew magna.Some of The Rendall may have emigrated - i Know for certain one part of the Rendall family emigrated too Victoria Australia.If anyone finds a link too Chew Magna of either of thses names them please get in touch - other names that are common in the Rendall line include Thomas,James,John,William,George,Charles etc.

I added the post for Dundry - whos grt grt grt grandfather was James Rendall 1781 - 1859 who was born and died in Chew Magna Somerset.
His father Thomas Rendall died in 1829 aged 80 - which estimates his birth year as c1749 - i believed his parents to be John and Mary as a founs a marriage for them in Litton in 1744 - they did have a son called Thomas born c1748 who could be Thomas my grt grt grt grt grandfather but i have since found a Thomas Randle born in Chew Magna in 1749 - they spell his name like this on igi - this one however wasnt bap at St Andrews as i have records - i believe Dundry was part of Chew Magna at that time so think he may have been bap their so i need to obtain records - my grt grt grandfathers daughter Martha Rendall married at Dundry - she became a Weare/wear and died in Clutton Union workhouse in 1901,if anyone recognises thesse name and has Rendalls from Chew Magna,Dundry and surrounding areas then please get in touch

I am researching my husband's family; his 3 gt grandfather was James or possibly Edward Carpenter born c. 1786 in East Harptree. He married & had one daughter, Mary or Marie. His first wife may have been Elizabeth, surname unknown. He married secondly (presumably as a widower) Frances Ashman in 1806 & had 5 children with her. They were George b. 1807, John b. 1809, Eliza b. 1816, Maria b. 1818 & Henry b. 1827. Henry married Jane Thomas George & they had 4 children. Was an accountant and parish clerk st St Georges, later at Flax Bourton. Died 1868 at Flax Bourton and buried at St Georges, Easton in Gordano with Martha. Also any information on the family of Eliza Shaw Stewart Fairbairn of Pill in 1871 census.

I am trying to trace the story of Alice Thompson born in Easton in Gordano (St George) in 1885. In 1901 she was a servant in the Fry household at Failand House, Lower Failand. In 1907 she married a Thomas George Robinson (born 1880 in London Marylebone) of Fulham and at the time of the 1911 Census was living with Thomas and their son Matthew (aged 1) in Fulham. I have not been able to find any further information on her whereabouts after 1911. I am particularly interested in finding out if she returned to the Nailsea/Flax Bourton/Bristol area.
