Ludlow Family, Dunster - (Dunster - Somerset)
> I wonder if anyone can throw any light (so to speak) on the window at St George's church, Dunster, dedicated to Walter Ludlow (1850-1909). It is very large and paid for out of public subscription, so WL was clearly a very popular person. I am asking because I am doing research on his son Frank Ludlow (born Chelsea, 1885-1972), a famous teacher/botanist/ornithologist/ diplomat in the Himalayas including Tibet between 1923 and the late 1940s. Walter Ludlow was a grocer in Chelsea according to Frank's birth certificate but the family has strong West Country roots and moved back (?)to Dunster when Frank was a boy. Frank attended Wellington (West Somerset County) school and his older brother Walter James Ludlow was vicar of Dulverton 1922-39 and later rector of Hawkschurch,Axminster, Devon. I know next to nothing else about the family and if anyone can help I would be most grateful. Many thanks, > > Michael
