CLIFFORD GEORGE JONES born 1866, Gasworks, Bridgwater. 1871 Census living Old Taunton Road. 1881 Census living The Butts, North Petherton. He was the son of RICHARD PERKINS JONES (born 1828 Crowcombe) and JANE (FURSLAND born 1834 Bridgwater). Richard's parents were GEORGE JONES/JOANS born circa 1788 East Quantoxhead and possibly Elizabeth. Jane's parents were JOSEPH FURSLAND and MARY CROKER both born circa 1804 in Bridgwater. I know SARAH BIFFEN/BIFFIN was Clifford's Gt Aunt but I have been unable to find the link. Can anybody help? Any links to anyone would be much appreciated.

Married Martha Webb at Easton in Gordano in 1841; Eliza born 1844 and James George 1847 at St George, Bristol. Martha died in 1851; Thomas remarried to Rhoda Phippen in 1854 at Bristol; Emily born 1854; Thomas Oliver 1856; Isabella 1860; Frederick William 1862. Was an accountant and parish clerk st St Georges, later at Flax Bourton. Died 1868 at Flax Bourton and buried at St Georges, Easton in Gordano with Martha. Also any information on the family of Eliza Shaw Stewart Fairbairn of Pill in 1871 census.

Harden family - Edington, Somerset
When Nathaniel HARDEN died in 1818 he, according to probate, owned about 48 acres of land in Edington and Burtle Hill, some of which was purchased by John KING, father of Nathaniel's second wife, Mary KING. His children mentioned in his will were John, James, George, Jane, Mary and Anne (Maria?). James and George both went to London where James married Isabel CASTLE. They immigrated to Australia in 1839. Robert DURSTON and John MARTIN were witnesses to Nathaniel's will.

The Edithmead Hamlet - Edithmead, Somerset
Ever wondered where in Somerset would be a place to settle? Once an "outpost" of Burnham and supposed burial site of of the saxon Queen Edith, although there is nothing yet come to light to prove it. Its approach from Burnham has now been effectively bisected to provide a link road to the M5 Motorway, but it still retains its little missionary church and most of the present housing (if not all?) has replaced the earlier 18th century country dwellings.

In the early 1900s the wheelwright in Englishcome was born MARK SEAMAN in Huish Campflower but later used the name RICHARD SEAMAN. He lodged with Jane CAREY in Englishcombe in 1881 and 1891, and married ELIZABETH CAREY in 1898. He described himself as a "journeyman" in 1901; I'm trying to find out if he was working in the WELLINGTON area in 1895/1896.

Trying to trace anything regarding the Francis family and public houses in Englishcombe. I know Edith and then her son John were beer retailers and John was landlord of the GT at Padleigh in 1871. Edith was a beer seller in the 1841 census but I'm not sure where and I know that up to the 1890s there was another 'beer house' in the village. Can anyone help with info please?
