Burnell family
- Axbridge
Family tree - My grandfather was born in Axbridge in 1888 - His father James was a policeman here and later became the owner of a cycle shop - believed to be in Axbridge also.
The family business became the Garage in Cheddar where the brothers of Arthur Burnell, Leonard and Lawrence joined in the Coach business which ran tours in charabancs. Arthur Burnell married Kate Star and they had three children, two daughters and a son. My mother was V.Grace Burnell (died in 2002) her sister was Phyllis and they had a brother, Gerald. Gerald married Joan and they had a daughter Ann. Phyllis was unable to have children. After Kate Starr died in 1934 (aged only 45) Arthur later married Doris Dunning (who passed away a few days before Christmas). My sister Julie and brother Malcolm and myself were unable to attend the funeral at such short notice - so we missed the chance of meeting any remaining relatives we had. We particularly wanted to see Ann, Gerald's daughter and also Brian Burnell, son of Edith and Lawrence. Due to the passing of Doris Burnell (at Bleadon) we would like to try and find anyone who knew the family and can help enlighten us to any other relations.
