Gosling Family of Chard, Axminster, Lyme Regis or Bridport - Chard, Somerset
John Gosling, Elizabeth née Stembridge, and their children Mary, Elizabeth and William, left Chard in about 1848-50, emigrated to Jersey in the Channel Islands, and starting in a small way, gradually built a flourishing business in the carriage trade.
Mary marr. George William Bailey, Elizabeth marr. Robert Cox then James Stembridge & William marr. Sarah Hodder.
My grandfather, William Robert Gosling returned to London, England 1899-1900, marrying Mary Ann Maud Mitchell and lived here for the rest of his life, dying in 1946.
I know all the main events of their lives since 1851 but cannot seem to get any reliable information pre-1822.
Can anyone help me?

First Names: Helen & Orpha - both from Chard - mystery!!! - Chard, Somerset
Hi, I recently discovered that my Gt.Grandfather, Francis Hancock, born Fen Ditton Cambridge c.1865, appears as husband to both a HELEN, born Chard Somerset c.1861, and then to an ORPHA born Chard Somerset c. 1860 Chard. Somerset!! Now this maybe complete fluke, but to find 2 woman born in Chard Somerset at that time amazes me... Cannot find marriages to EITHER. There is more info that makes me think these 2 women may be related, but too much to put on here. ANYONE shed light on this, I'd be verrrrry grateful.
