Maslens in Bath, Batheaston & Twerton - (Batheaston - Somerset)
We are trying to find Maslens in the Bath area. We have traced back 5 generations living in Bath (or surrounding areas - Batheaston & Twerton in particular) and are eager to add to the tree! A previous generation was Charles Maslen (1796-1859) married to Elizabeth (b1801) possibly Trowbridge / Batheaston. One of their children was James Maslen (1829-1900) married to Elizabeth (nee Fisher) (1829-1909) - we belive James may be one of at least 7! James and Elizabeth lived in Batheaston and then Twerton. They had 13 children - our tree springs from the youngest - Oliver John (1873-1947). Any information much appreciated. We are willing to share!
Family Surnames: Maslen, Maslin

Henry later moved settled in Stafford, where he and his wife Hannah brought up a family of ten, the first being my grandfather John Henry Guest Weaver. Liz

We only have the bare outlines so far, stemming from William Rich of Lodge Farm, Batheaston (105 acres, employed two men and a boy), born 1814, whose wife was called Emma and was born at Marshfield, Glos. Our line continues through their son Alfred James Rich, who married Fanny (Frances?) Harding, and they in turn produced a daughter Frederica Winifred Rich in 1888. Frederica was born at Northend, Batheaston. Does anyone have any further info on this particular strand please? Many thanks. Edward

woodward in bathford avon - (Bathford - Somerset)
Two brothers, Robert Blake Woodward and John Deverell Stewart Woodward b 1848 & 1849 Bathford were sons of Richard and Mary (nee Stewart) Woodward. Richard a retired Indian Army man, remarried ca 1858 Harriet (maiden name unknown). Robert B and John D S Woodward became missionaries, went to America then in early 1870s to Natal South Africa where they were ordained into the Anglican Church in 1881. They were ornithologists and wrote the first study of Natal Birds (the title of their book)in 1899. The last reference to the brothers in SA is 1905. It's likely that they returned to England and died there - but where? They had at least one full sister, Rosina, and a half-sister Alice. I particularly need a photograph of the brothers, but any further information on the family or on the brothers' burial place welcomed. I'm not connected to the Woodwards, but am a genealogist and historian working in Natal and attempting to compile what will be the first full chronology of the lives of these two elusive individuals, after whom some Natal bird species are named.
