I have a very old photograph 1880- in my possession of a Colonel William Welfitts (Need)b 1806 - d 1889, married Letita Mary Hall. I have learnt that they lived at Langwith Hall in 1840's.I am curious as to how this photo (enscribed) came into my late grandmother's possession. In fact it was actually in the family photo album, but during research have found no reason for it to be there. Can anyone help ?

Great granny Ann Checkley married William Spalding abt 1862. The census records state that Annie was born in Brighton but there is no record of marriage or birth and the family always thought she came from Newark. The Spaldings came from Waddingham, Lincs. They owned the Royal Oak Inn and Brewery in Stodman Street together with other Inns and properties in Newark. One of their daughter's married into the WHITE grocery family, another into GROCOCK family and yet another married into the notorious JENKINSON family of East Retford.
