TAYLOR/PORTER/JENKINSON/WHITE/FORTUNE/STEEL
- Newark-on-Trent
My TAYLOR family originate from East Retford. William TAYLOR married Mary PORTER in Newark in 1811. They owned the Royal Oak Inn and Brewery in Stodman Street together with other Inns and properties in Newark. One of their daughter's married into the WHITE grocery family, another into GROCOCK family and yet another married into the notorious JENKINSON family of East Retford. Son John was the local Chemist and I believe the building still stands in the square. I would love to hear from anyone researching the same families together with STEEL and FORTUNE researchers.
