Offspring of Henry Child AVES Plumber of Leeming Street - Mansfield
My Great Great Grandmother Clara nee AVES was born (11th June 1884, baptised St Johns Mansfield 8th July 1884) of William Tom AVES and Susanna Orr (Baptism records say he was baptised William John Aves Born 11th February 1859, baptised St John Mansfield 3rd February 1869 with 3 other children of his family including Clara Aves, Emily Sherwood Aves, Lucy Elizabeth Aves (married a King) with brother Ernest Harold AVES (Born 12th September 1869). Her mother was Mary Elizabeth (nee Newton) The AVES family emigrated on the ship Ligura to Australia. William Tom left Melbourne for Tasmania in 1924, but no trace can be found. We wonder if he returned to Mansfield to be with his family and so hope a descendent of William, or a descendent of his family members might be able to assist. Also their parents were Henry Child AVES who married Susanna Orr. I don't know if Orr was her family name or a second name and don't know the marriage details. If anyone has these I'd welcome the information. I have an 1866 4th Notts regiment Shooting Cup won by Henry Child AVES and wondered again if the descendents of the Regiment (became the Sherwood Foresters I believe) might be interested. Kind Regards Ken

The name canbe spelt in a variety of different ways.

William Key Maud - Maplebeck
William was born in Newark, 1771 the illegitimate child of a Millicent Maud. Millicent married a William Giles of Lincoln in 1773 and I do not know what happened to her from then on. I think she was born in Blidworth to John and Ann Maud because, John and Ann were living in Blidworth when they applied ,in 1763 for a Settlement Certificate to allow them to move to Newark and at that time, John and Ann had two daughters, Millicent and Ann. John was born in Blidworth in 1739/40 together with a sister born in 1738, his parents were John and Millicent. So it would appear that the Mauds were in Blidworth from at least 1738 to 1763. We do not know who William Key Mauds father was but wonder whether he was a Key due to his mother using Key as his second given name and also due to the fact that ended up in Maplebeck, where he married Alice Hurt, they lived and died there, there are many Keys, or were at Maplebeck
