Mary Clarkson Nee Dowson - Rosedale Abbey
Mary is my 3x grandmother and although she was born in Rosedale, North Yorkshire, I last spied her on the Barforth 1881 census, age 71 as housekeeper to William Wetherall. I would appreciate any information about Mary. She was widowed at a very youngage, her husband Robert died in Sherburn aged 32, and Mary spent time living with her inlaws untill 1881.

I am looking for further details regarding my Great Grandfather who was killed in action in the First World War. His birth name was William Jefferson, born in 1873 in Ruswarp, Yorkshire but by 1893 he was using the alias of Leonard Russell Waters which as far as we can tell he used from then on. He had my grandfather with a Charlotte Maleary nee Brown who lived in Thornaby, North Yorkshire but was married and had children with Ann Waters nee Hodgson in South Bank, Middlesbrough and according to his armed forces records was still married to her when he died in 1916. I am interested in finding out the reason he changed his name and more about anyone from the extended family.
