WADDINGTON - Middlesbrough
I am looking for any info about "Waddington." My Father Alan Lee was born in 1952 in Middlesbrough (Newport District), Cleveland, Yorkshire (North Riding), England. His Father Albert Lee II was born in 1929 in Newport, Middlesbrough. His Mother was Elsie Waddington, born in 1905 in Newport, Middesbrough. She Married Albert Lee I in the eary 1900's in Newport, Middlesbrough, and had children Albert II, William, Enid, Jessica, and Ella Lee. The family lived on Anne St. and then Earnest St. Elsie died in 1989 in Newport, Middlesbrough of natural causes. Of my Great-Grandmother Elsie's line, my Grandfather Albert Lee II has record of the Waddington Family as far as anyone knows, which is to my Waddington Great-Great-Great Grandfather born about 1850 in Newport, Middlesbrough. I am aware that on this side we descend from the ancient British tribe of Chief Wada Dux who had territories in eastern Lancashire, western Yorkshire, and northern Lincolnshire, and that the surname was fixed to the family in the early 12TH. Century. But does the surname "Waddington," derived from Old English "Wada ' " + "ing" + "tune" ("Town Of The Tribe Of Wada") indicate that our line originated in Waddington, Cliteroe, Lancashire (formerly: Yorkshire West Riding), or could our origins have been also from either Padiham, Burnley, Lancashire (formerly: Yorkshire West Riding), ancient seat of Chief Wada Dux, or any location in east Lancashire or west Yorkshire since a "tune" (settlement) of the tribe od Wada could have been anywhere in the territory? What I am asking in short is, does "Waddington" necessarilty indicate origin from the village of Waddington, or could have just been a surname fixed to any habitational residence of the tribe?

Alfred MaCauley and Marjorie Rececca Gill - Middlesbrough
Alfred was born in Middlesbrough Dec-15-1918 and died Oct-06-1994 in Rotherham, Yorkshire. He married Marjorie Rebecca Gill at the Parish Church in Rotherham on Feb-23-1947. They have 2 children Pat (1948)and Susan (1953). When he was very young he was put in a home. A couple (Mr. and Mrs Hutchinson) from Rotherham adopted Alfred. When Mrs. Hutchinson passed away Mr. Hutchinson married a Mrs Wooley who had quite a few children. Alfred was 14 when Mrs Hutchinson died. I am told that Alfred didn't fit into the family after Mr. Hutchinson remarried so before he was 18 changed his name back to MaCaulay (birth name). He joined the R.A.F. for 12 years. He was in Burma about 7 years during the war. I did find out that Alf had 3 brothers Bill (Middlebrough), Frank (Middlebrough) and Don (Laughbrough). I did find out that his father was Donald MaCaulay born 1889. He was an errand boy in 1901 and a private in the Royal Air Force. Donald died in May-1921. Don married Margaret Jane King formely Shea in 1907.
