Alfred MaCauley and Marjorie Rececca Gill
- Middlesbrough
Alfred was born in Middlesbrough Dec-15-1918 and died Oct-06-1994 in Rotherham, Yorkshire. He married Marjorie Rebecca Gill at the Parish Church in Rotherham on Feb-23-1947. They have 2 children Pat (1948)and Susan (1953).
When he was very young he was put in a home. A couple (Mr. and Mrs Hutchinson) from Rotherham adopted Alfred. When Mrs. Hutchinson passed away Mr. Hutchinson married a Mrs Wooley who had quite a few children. Alfred was 14 when Mrs Hutchinson died.
I am told that Alfred didn't fit into the family after Mr. Hutchinson remarried so before he was 18 changed his name back to MaCaulay (birth name). He joined the R.A.F. for 12 years. He was in Burma about 7 years during the war.
I did find out that Alf had 3 brothers Bill (Middlebrough), Frank (Middlebrough) and Don (Laughbrough).
I did find out that his father was Donald MaCaulay born 1889. He was an errand boy in 1901 and a private in the Royal Air Force. Donald died in May-1921. Don married Margaret Jane King formely Shea in 1907.

LOUDON/JOBSON 1850-1920 (Middlesbrough)
- Middlesbrough
Searching for family history.
WILLIAM ROBERTSON LOUDON (from Glasgow?) married NELLY JOBSON (from Middlesbrough?).
WILLIAM ROBERTSON LOUDON was a 'marine engineer' in 1908 but may have gone on to be a pilot for the docks. WILLIAM may also have been a protestant lay-preacher and was said to have preached in a house basement/cellar in MARTON ROAD (house said to have stained glass windows)
NELLY JOBSON may be the daughter of JOHN JOBSON (a herbalist of Argyle Street).
A son, THOMAS ALFRED LOUDON (my father) b June 1908, d Jan 1992.
Was youngest of 3 or 4 children (only one girl).
WILLIAM and NELLY gave 19 CROMWELL ROAD, SOUTH BANK, NORMANBY as their address in 1908 when registering the birth of THOMAS ALFRED LOUDON in July 1908. The house survives to this day.
If you have the slightest 'snippet' of information or ANY photographs of THOMAS or WILLIAM/NELLY, other siblings or of Cromwell Road (c 1900-1940) please drop me a note.
Thankyou
