Thomas Stanyarne ca. 1630 - 1683 (Gregorian) - Brigstock
Thomas Stanyarne came from Brigstock in Northamptonshire to Charles Town (Charleston, SC)in May 1675, probably living for a period in Barbados before his arrival in South Carolina. His wife's name was Mary and she also may have come from Brigstock. Given the dates and region, it seems possible that he was obliged to emigrate after the collapse of the republic and the restoration of the British monarchy in 1660, though this is pure speculation. He seems to have been an emigrant ancestor for a large number of South Carolina descendants, though not all the genealogical lines are unambiguously derived, as far as I am aware. (Parish records for Brigstock at this time show Stanion as a local family name, though the Stanyarne spelling variant barely features.) I'd welcome the opportunity to exchange genealogical knowledge on the Stanyarnes from Brigstock.
