Canon William DRAKE - Norwich
Looking for any info on above (or wife) b.1814 in Norwich d. Dec 1896 in North Walsham. He's my GGG G/father, married Emily Austin (nee staff - I think! d. 19.10.1861) on 23.03.1839, their children were: Edith Anne, Winifred Lucy, Isabel Augusta, Emily Mary, Bertha Beata (GG G/mother), Helen Maud, Rev. Arthur William, Margaret Mabel, Francis Rivers and Marion Ethel. He was made Canon of Worcester in 1862. Bertha Beata (b. 13.02.1847) married (14.10.1869) a Richard Robinson (b. 21.02.1845) of Chestnut Farm, Sedgebrook Lincs.

The 1881 British Census,had the following family members listed as residing at 21 Mount Pleasant, Eaton St Andrew, Norfolk; Edward Pankhurst born abt 1846 Woodcroft Hampshire,and his children; Percy b1870,Harry b1872,Ernest b1873,Florance b1874,Austin b1876 and Reginald b1880, all born in Norwich.Eldest son Percy, later emigrated to Qld, Australia. Any information, regardless of how trivial, would be greatly appreciated.

Children: Alice A b1874, George J 1876, Harry William 1877-c1930, Walter I 1880, Crissie 1882, William 1884, Sidney 1886, Lilian 1887, Eva 1888, Herbert (Bertie) 1890, Micky(?)1896. Harry William was the father of my mother's cousin. She has never met any of her aunts and uncles and would love to find out more about his family.

In norwich there are lots of them in the 18th/19th century. But information is scarce on what they did. Later ones were fish mongers and brush makers. A fish monger Thomas Jay left a will but appears no direct link. Any information on the Jays in general is much welcome.
