Northfields of Clerkenwell, 1809 - Clerkenwell
I am looking for any information on Charles Northfield (born 1809 in Clerkenwell), or the Northfield family of Clerkenwell. I haven't had any luck finding his parents' or siblings' names. I believe -- but have not confirmed this as of yet -- that he married Mary Ann Goulden in 1836. Charles is listed in the 1851 Census as an ironmonger.

Any information please on Helen Jane GREGORY, born of Scottish parents (William & Helen) in Clerkenwell in 1855. She married Alfred LANE in 1875 at St.Luke's and had a child, William Stephen LANE, in 1876. Helen died 1889. Her known siblings were Stephen T (b. ca 1855), Caroline Margaret (b. ca 1857, married HAWKINS) and Elizabeth (b.ca 1862). Helen's father William was a Tin-plate worker.

BACON - Clerkenwell
Any information would be gratefully received about the family of JAMES SMITH BACON who was the Master of St Luke's Workhouse from 1842 to 1848. His wife was called EMMELINE, maiden name BUTLER and she was the Workhouse Matron. Their daughter Mary Ann went to live with an aunt at Fontaibne's Tallow Factory in Hoxton. Jame died in 1848 and was buried in Abney Park Cemetery.

WALLIS family in BERKSHIRE and LONDON in around 1800 - Clerkenwell
I am interested in the birth of SUSANNAH WALLIS around 1809 in Thatcham, BRK. I have traced her through the use of Pallots Marriage index and London Metropolitan Archives, to St.John Clerkenwell where she married John Knott Page in 1830. I presume that John Page was an apprentice in Clerkenwell. In the Reading BRK Census 1851, I found that she was born Abt 1809 in Thatcham, BRK. I do not have her fathers name because it could not be read on her marriage record, and her baptism date - Can someone help. At CLERKENWELL I FOUND THE ADDITIONAL RECORDS, many may have BRK connections; John Knott Page (bac) s/o William Page and Susannah Wallis (spin) dau/o ? Wallis married at St.John, Clerkenwell, 15 Mar 1830, with Banns. Witnesses; C Simons & Jane Page et cetera. David SIMPSON Bac with Banns married 14 Apr 1830 to Ann GRAYLING Spin, witnesses ? Greyling & H Grayling. Charles PAGE bac with Banns married 19 Apr 1830 to Betty WILLIS Spin, Witnesses C Simons, John Page, M Willis & ? ??iles Geo WALLIS Wid with Banns married 29 Sep 1830 to Ann BRADBURY Wid, witnesses Lavina Butler, Maltilda Webb Wm. WILLIS Bac with banns married 26 May 1817 to Elizabeth GREEN Spin, witnesses; Mary Sophia Stacy, John Hints, John Neep. Does anyone out there have any information regarding the St. John Street Coffee Shop and Lodging House at 217 St. John Street? It was run by a Richard Heard (of Barnstaple, Bedford) and wife Martha (from Birmingham) as of the 1881 Census. One of my relations, George Northfield, a tin worker, was lodging there then.

I am looking for anyone who knew of the Hall family,who lived in Queens Street,Clerkenwell. My Great G/dad was Edward Hall(do not know what my g/grandmothers name was)but they had 10 children,5 girls,who were:Charlotte(my nan),Ginny,Grace,Maud and Eva and the 5 boys were:George,Albert,Harry,Bob(robert)and Alfred(I think that was his name). My nan Charlotte married Henry Arthur Ward roughly 1916 and she died at the age of 31 in St.Giles Hospital and was buried in Finchley with her Father. Charlotte had T.B. unfortunately there was no cure then. She left behind her husband and 2 children Doris aged 3 and Henry(harry)aged about 5 or 6. A few years passed and Henry (my grandad) re-married this time to Elizabeth Rose Jeffries and she would not allow my mum(doris or her brother henry/harry) to see their real mother(charlottes)parents or any of the family. So from that day to this (my mum is now 85) and has never known if she still has any living relatives,she would so love to find them. If you can help,I would appreciate it. Thankyou

Robinson Anthony - Clerkenwell
I am researching an Anthony Robinson and family who lived in Clerkenwell, Shoreditch, Hackney, Islington and other parts of London. Anthony, occupation Paper Stainer/Stationer, married Margaret Hughes in 1822. They had at least 4 children, Elizabeth 1823, Jane 1824, Henry c1831 and Emily Margaret c1832. On the 1841 census they were living in Clerkenwell and in 1861 and 1871 in Islington. Henry, occupation Gold Wire Drawer, was my great grandfather and married Jane Gibbons in Hoxton in 1852. In the early 1870s Henry and Jane Robinson moved to Preston. Anthony is a name which crops up in every generation of Robinsons. Emily Margaret married Richard John Mosley on 30 August 1852 at St John The Baptist Hoxton. His occupation was Lapidary. Richard Mosley died in 1867 and in 1869 Emily married Alfred Nicholas Norbergson b1848 in Bethnal Green. His occupation was a Fish Porter. Emily’s sister Jane Robinson b1824, married Lewis Grant on 4 July 1852 at the same chuch. His occupation was Stay Factor. Cannot find any trace of Jane and Lewis Grant on any census.

Mary married Edward Wood in 1838 in the Parish of Islington.One of their daughters Mary Ann Francis WOOD was my GGM. Think Joseph MASH died about 1845 as unable to find any further info. on him. However there are other MASH's in 1861 Census'. A George Mash wife Ann (Smith?) born c. 1821 had a Beer Shop where his nephew Edward GUNSTON and his niece (myGGM) Mary Ann Francis WOOD worked. i am trying to find out what i can about above g/parents on my late fathers side ,they lived at victoria dwellings clerkenwell ,moved to london early 1900,s from sheffield during 14/18 war he was a sergeant in royal irish rifles.my father james arthur coulson was born 1915 holborn.as far as i know they remained in the area my dad had 4 brothers jackie,donald,george,(william ,sonny possible nickname ?)and 2 sisters annie and violet,the latter married a g.i.after ww2 and went to live in america,my sister can remember visiting edith coulson in a care home somewhere in baker st near euston rd area.i have no idea what came of them ,i would like to get in touch with anybody with any family ties or connections to above.my father worked for carter/patterson poss goswell rd depot and was in royal engineers territorials ww2,also worked for brs parcels 50s/60s,my mother told me he went to an italian school in local area st peters if anyone has any info to pass on i would be very gratefull.
