|Hills family in St Pancras - (St Pancras (London) - Middlesex)
My great great grandfather was William Alexander Hills. He was born in St Pancras around 1816. A William Alexander Hills was baptised in Old St Pancras on 26 May 1816, with parents John and Margaret. I have found a further 6 children baptised in Old St Pancras between 1814 and 1829 with parents John and Margaret Hills, who could be siblings of William Alexander. The baptismal record for Frederick Henry Hills (1825) given by Pallot's Index says his father John was a tailor. The marriage certificate of Elizabeth Amelia Hills (bapt. 27 Dec 1818) to Thomas Dunsford Stacey on 11 July 1841 also states that her father John Hills was a tailor. However, my father believed that William Alexander's father was a shoemaker. Unfortunately, family records which might confirm this have gone astray. Either my father was wrong, or there was more than one couple called John and Margaret Hills living in St Pancras in the early 19th century. I have found other references to a John Hills, tailor, who had been born in Ramsey, Hunts in about 1788, and the other children, which make a reasonably believable story, but nothing which definitely links William to this John. Does anyone have anything which might help? More information available on request

|GARRAD - GARROD - VINCENT. - (St Pancras (London) - Middlesex)
Shirley K. Garrad born 1935 - When I was five years old I was taken by your uncle Jabez (my father) to visit your mother (his sister, Violet) and you, no more than a week old. You had a shock of black hair all of three inches long. As you are my cousin, I would be very pleased if you are able to get in touch with me. Perhaps now Shirley K. Vincent, or James senior, James Junior, Nicholas K. or my namesake Joanne M would, if you are not into computers Shirley. Either way I was only five years old when I saw you and your mother and although I am now 79 I have never forgotten that scene and didn't know who you and your mother were. Just recently I went over my records of the family and realised that your mother was the only person it could be. So I looked for her marrage and as all the ages and dates matched
I can tick off that memory that has been with me 74 years being able to put names to the memory. Your Uncle Jabez (Jim) died when I was fourteen. And I haven't been able to find John Richard the other brother of your mother. I do hope someone will answer, it will be great to hear from you.
