My family of Horsman appears in 1775 when Thomas married Jane Hunt. They had Mary,John,William,Thomas,Elizabeth,between 1776 and 1818. William went on to marry Eleanor Julien at Great Gonerby in 1805before the family moved to Spanby. There was also another John who married Charlotte Ringrose from Hether Lodge?? in 1815. Matthew was a vermin destroyer and they lived in Riverside, Brigg. Trying to find where Esther went after 1881. She was working as a servant in Hull then but seems to have disappeared after that.

Elizabeth and George then lived in Brigg and had three daughters. Any information would be useful.

I am trying to fill the gap caused by a fire, at the vicarage at Brigg, which destroyed the parish records. William Scaman, a whitesmith, died there in 1679. My direct ancestor, John Scaman, was christened at South Elkington in 1773. He married Sarah Colebeck, and his family were wheelwrights in South Ormsby. His son Joseph married Mary West they were blacksmiths. She continued the business after his death.

Emmerson - Sayers marriage

My ancestors Henry Sayers and Hannah Emmerson were married in Brocklesby in 1831. Their two sons, Thomas ans Henry were baptised there in 1833 and 1835. At some point the family moved to London. I have not been able to find either Henry's or Hannah's baptisms in the area around Brocklesby. If anyone is interested in these families in this area I wouls be interested to hear from them. According to the official website, the name is one of a former plague village(though not necessarily on the same site,or even nearby for that matter). I have queried it with the Parish Council, but they don't know where the info came from. from what I gather the name means 'village by the brook'.
