Charles James Waters - Stamford
I am hoping to find out if any of the Waters families living in Stamford today are decendants of Charles James Waters, who possibly marrried an Agnes Baker and also possibly had 2 children (I am still investigating this possibility) called Cyril Charles and Nancie Kathleen. Charles James was living in Stamford, but was b. in Tamworth. His father, Charles Waters came from Weston, nr. Bath and was the brother of my ggrandmother, nee Esther Waters. John Swift Miller - Stamford
Looking for information on John Swift Miller christened at Stamford in 1807, son of George Miller and Sarah.He marries Sophie Parrish in August 1829. However, he appears to be the father of 5 children born to Hannah Vincent nee Wrangle. She married John Vincent at Spalding in 1832 but her first child is not born till 1842 in London. The 1851 census shows her with John M Vincent in Islington and all the children have the middle name Miller? By 1851 she is in Boston with the original John Vincent and John Swift Miller is back in Stamford owning a grocers shop. Any info would be appreciated.

James Betts and his wife, born Sarah Burgoin, were my great great grandparents. James is first listed in the 1841 census as an apprentice Druggist, but he later became a hairdresser, then a bookeeper and a clerk in the 1881 census. I have hit a brick wall! I have a Joshua Jepston Oddy Slater in my tree he was born 1809 and baptised in Stamford. I believe he married a Matilda Robinson in 1834 in Ryhall Rutland. They had a son Joseph b.c. 1835. This couple appear to have separated. I believe Joshua had other children with a lady called Ann. John then married Mary and they had a son, William in 1753. William senior died 1763 age 53. Do you know where William was born. Who was the Elizabeth he married and where was the service? I have located a John Popple marrying an Ann Hitchcock in Stroxton on 19th May 1807. I believe that Ann was born in Denton in 1777 or 1778. Their first child was christened on 17th January 1808 at Great Ponton but subsequent children were all born inStroxton. John, I think,is my great-great-great-greatgrandfather. Two other Johns form the next two generations and appear first in Worcestershire and then in Staffordshire. My greatgrandfather was named Harry. Ihave no birthplace for the first Johnas yet.
