Skillington, Johnson family
- Skillington
I have traced many ancestors who lived in Skillington, the earliest being Richard Johnson, born 1790 in the village. He married Elizabeth Foyster/Foster. She was born in 1795 in Bourne Lincolnshire. I have found six children born to them, all in Skillington. Richard was a farmer and a baker. He died in 1853, aged 63years. As for Elizabeth she went on to become the Inn Keeper of The Blue Horse Inn, which is still open. She was also a baker. Elizabeth died in 1865. I have quite a lot of information on other generations of Johnsons in Skillington and Mareham le Fen, and would be very happy to hear from anyone who has connections.

BARNES family 1800-1850
- Sleaford
My GG Grandfather was William Barnes (b: 1806). He married Mary (Ann) Newcomb (b: 1805) in Sleaford in 1842, and they had children William (1843), Mary (1845) John (1847) and Benjamin (1851). The family emigrated to Australia on the ship "James T Foord" sailing from Liverpool in August 1852, arriving in Geelong in December 1852. I believe William's parents were John Barnes and Sarah Mason, who married in about 1803. I would be interested to hear from anyone with more information on the Barnes families from this area. I suspect there were several families with the same surname, but our Barnes's seem to have come from Kirkby la Thorpe, Sleaford or Holdingham. Info on the Newcomb or Mason families may also be helpful. Thanks, Ron

Jesse Lewis Rowe 1874
- Sleaford
Jesse is my great uncle and I know he married Mary Ann Webber and that they had children called Letty 1899? John Thomas 1901-1907 Fred Lewis Rowe 1903 -1984? There may be more but I haven't found them yet. I know that Letty married Herbert Ansell Mitcham in Sleaford in 1925 and had a daughter called Margery in 1926 and the Mitcham family lived at 7 Castle Terrace. The family were living at 3 Castle Terrace in 1903 and in 1907 but had moved on by 1911C. They may have gone to Wales. I have found Fred Lewis Rowe in Ogwr Mid Glamorgan and on Letty and Herbert's marriage certificate it says Jesse was a miner and deceased. Jesse's brother Fred was my great grandfather and he and his family lived at 8 Castle Terrace and had 9 daughters including my grandmother Annie. I am anxious to find out anything about the family and to find out if I am correct in my asumption that they went to Wales.
