My great-great-grandparents both came from Tealby, Lincs. Thomas Butters and Mary Smith were both born in Tealby where they grew up and later married each other. Thomas was born circa. 1837 and Mary Circa. 1843. After marrying they moved to Hull.If anyone knows anything about either the Butters Family or Smith Family I would be most interested. My father Gilbert Wilson was born in 1906 in this pub and baptised in the local church. George William Wilson was Sextant at the church and my grandmother Alice Archer cleaned the church.

Interested in parentage of: John Dobbs, b.1837 in North Somercotes, NE Lincolnshire. Siblings: Edward 1846; Frederick 1849; Sarah 1852 (Sarah married Fred Johnson); and, Joseph C. Dobbs 1853 married a Rebecca ??. John-1837 assumed the role of head of household. He married 1861/62 Rebecca Constence, b.1839 from Sutton, Cambridge.
John & Rebecca's children were: Hannah Elizabeth, 1862 Sheffield, Yorkshire. Then moved to Theddlethorpe, St Helen, Lincolnshire and had John Charles 1864; Louisa 1868; James 1871; Ursula 1874; and William 1878. On 1881 Census John Snr's brother, Frederick-1849, lived with them too. The males were mostly bricklayers.
Emmigrated to Australia in 1882: John Charles Dobbs. Later followed sister, Hannah (Dobbs) Emmitt, married to James Emmitt, an Ag.labourer. (they met on Benniworth farm, Lincolnshire) with baby son John Emmitt immigrated in 1886.

In 1901 John Stamp from Wrawby, Lincs, married Emma Fish from Barrow on Humber. Taking her line back, her grandfather was John Fish born Thornton Curtis c1823. I have been told that on his marriage certificate, (to Mary Ann Hamilton in 1846) his father is stated to have been a Daniel Metcalf. Does anyone have access to the 1841 census for the Thornton Curtis/Barrow area to
check this? Doing a search on Ancestry for Metcalf Fish as a double name, brings up a death reference for Edith Metcalf Fish born c 1790, could she have been Daniel's wife or sister?
