Waggon and Horses Long Sutton - Long Sutton
My ggg grandparents Thomas and Sarah ASKEW ran the pub from before 1851 census. John died in about 1863 and Sarah continued to run the pub until after 1871 Census. I found reference to Pheobe Deanes and John Askew running the pub in 1881 Census. This is Thomas's son born 1846 and his wife Pheobe born 1837. Don't know if it is still there. Anyone got any information please...

THOMAS( 1811 -1863 ?) and Sarah (1811-1888) ASKEW.Landlords of Waggon of Horses - Had at least 9 children Sarah 1833 married Joseph MOWBRAY and had at least 8 children, Thomas 1835 married Pheobe Deans and had at least 3 children, James 1836 married Mary MALLETT? and had 5 children?, Frances 1838 married John Smith and they had 9 children (my gg grandparents), William 1840 married Ann Enderby FOREMAN and had 8 children.Mary 1844, John 1846, Jane(or Joan) 1852 ( I have no information as yet about them) and Hannah (born 1854) married James BUTT WILKINSON born c1844. He was a Corn Miller(1881census)with children James Alfred 1875 and Florence Ellen 1879.. I would be very grateful for any information about the ASKEW family and particularly JOHN SMITH.

Carbutts - Long Sutton
My great-grandmother was Harriet Louisa Carbutt, b. 1854, daughter of John, b.in the first decade of the 19C. I have traced the Carbutts through the censuses in Victorian times but cannot find what happened to them. My grandfather inherited a business in Long Sutton from his uncle Henry Carbutt.

I am looking for information on John Harwood born c1857 in Long Sutton (sometimes spelled Horwood) Who married Charlotte Smith born c 1858 in Sutterton. Their marriage was registered in Holbeach in 1880, they had a daughter Charlotte born c1880 in Long Sutton. On the 1881 census the family lived at Bridge Road, Sutton St. Mary. I can't find any trace of this family after 1881, I presume they emigrated. Any information as to what happened to them appreciated.

She names her only daughter Hellen. Her death is some time in the late 1860's. Henry lives to 1880's with a Frederick Parks family in the area.
