In the 1841 Census, ROBERT and MARY ROBINSON were in Lincoln (St Martins Parish). Robert's occupation is listed as a butcher. Their family at that stage were: Mary (daughter), Charlotte, Louisa, Elger and Herbert. Another son was born - CHARLES approx 1844. CHARLES ROBINSON emigrated to NZ early 1860.
Elger married Martha and had one known daughter, Louisa. They moved to Staffordshire . Herbert moved to Staffordhire as well. The two brothers were joiners, Martha became a Grocer.

Sarah Brown was born in 1814. She is shown as 67 years old in the 1881 census, where she is designated 'Formerly Farmer's Wife'. At the time of the census she was living in Harton, near York, with her daughter (Susannah Elizabeth) and son-in-law Edwin Matthew. Her birthplace is registered as Lincoln. Any info on her would be appreciated.

The Oxleys lived in Lincolnshire for most if not all of the 19th century. Several were born in Normanby and some, Henry among them, moved to Lincoln, where he was managing clerk for a firm of solicitors. He had married a Mary Ann Booth, from Manchester. I'm trying to go further back than John Hackney b. 1796 in Lincolnshire who married a Jane ? b 1806 also from Lincolnshire. They had 5 children - John, Joseph, Elizabeth, Thomas and Lucy. I am descended from John b 1826 > Francis James b 1855 > John Richard b 1877 > Frank Hackney b 1906 > John Hackney b 1937. They appear to have moved from Lincolnshire to Yorkshire via Wiltshire and then to Stockport. Any more info appreciated.

Does anyone know of any descendants of Harold Riley (born Oldham, died Lincoln), who played football for Lincoln City in the 1930s? I believe he may have had a daughter Janet whose married name was possibly Brooks. James Young, born 1796 Durham, married to Ann. Fathered John (1823), Robert (1828), Henry (1830), William James (1836), Thomas (1838), James (1841). Of these sons, four went on to be church organists, including John in Lincolnshire Cathedral, Robert in Durham, William in Lancashire, James in Flintshire, Wales...all despite their father being a mere painter/glazier. Have no information on the father of James Young or Ann's relatives. But there must be something in their background which influenced this. Does anyone have background information on these men?

My Great Grandmother was Betsy Ann Clayton, born in 1869 in Lincoln. At the time of the 1881 census, she was living with her father, Henry-born 1847, in Edlington Lincs, also her brother George 14yrs, sisters Lucy 9 yrs, and Kate 7 yrs. Also living with them was Eliza Richardson 21 yrs a servant from Scampton. Their address was 4 Danes Passage, Lincoln. Her mother Eliza Ann Tindall, had died by this time. Her Father Henry later remarried to a Fanny Hall, and had one more daughter, named Frances. At the time of the 1891 census Betsy Ann was living in Stoke Rochford Hall, as a servant. (This is near Skillington where a lot of my Johnson ancestors were living) Betsy Ann later married my Great Grand father, James Johnson and eventually settled in the Kirton area near Boston, Lincs. One of their sons, James was my Grandad. Any information about Betsy Ann or other family members welcome. Also any information about Stoke Rochford Hall appreciated.

He had been in India for some time until approx. 1896 and two of his sons Charles Edward and Robert were born there. Their mother died and Thomas married a widow, Maria (Worthington) Gabbitas in 1898 in Lincoln.
