William was the son of Christopher Hammond born Ropsley 1776 and his wife Mary possibly born Sewstern, Leics. William's siblings included Eliza,Mary, Jane, Charlotte, Ann, John, Philip, Sarah. William appears to have had a daughter Eliza born at Scopwick but as to names of other children I am unsure. There is a reference to an Elsie Hammond born about 1892 in attendance at the marriage of Edith Houtby & Charles Ottaway about 1912 and again a witness to the wedding of Florence Eveline Hammond in 1916 to Herbert Chapman. She may have been William & Mary's granddaughter.
