Searching for my grand father Patrick McKie.
- Grimsby
Patrick McKie was a trawlerman living in Grimsby around 1900-15, he served in submarines during WW1 as a Royal Navy reserve marine enginee and diver. My mother was born in 1913 and the family lived at 23 Flower Square, I have checked the census records but cannot find any reference to either Patrick McKie's or any other McKie's. He possibly moved to Grimsby from Newcastle with a fishing fleet or may have come from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He was born in 1872 and died in London in 1942, he married my grandmother Louisa Stapleton in 1905, possibly in Grimsby. If anyone has a copy of the 1911 census for Grimsby or marriage or berths, around that period showing the occupants of 23 Flower Sq I would be very grateful if they would share it with me.

My interest is with the wider Cornhill family - the other surnames are from marriages of female Cornhills marrying local fishermen. I have a good deal of information on the Cornhills who were Brixham fishermen and who settled in Grimsby (some via Hull) mid-century. Anyone connected ??
