Harold and Doris - Grantham
My great aunt 'Dodie' lived on Commercial Road, Grantham with a man I knew as uncle Harold ( I recently discovered they were not married). I stayed with them many times as a child and even attended Spitalgate school during at least one long stay. They were there possibly from the late 50's and maybe to the end of the 60's. Harold worked on the railway (poss. signalman), Dodie was an office cleaner.She had been married and her last name could have been Kirkland or Lane. She may even have used Harolds name but, unfortunately, I dont know it. Any info please as they were a huge part of my childhood.

In the Great Hale Parish Register he married Sarah Smith in Apr 1820 in Great Hale and his daughter Ann was baptised in the same church Dec 1820. Sarah was baptised in 1800, the daughter of Joseph Smith and Anne Hearson. Anne married Joseph Smith in 1787. She was the daughter of Thomas Hearson and Elizabeth Burton, married Great Hale 1766. Mary Dean at St. James,Great Grimsby, Aug. 25, 1740. With gaps, I have the next four generations of "Joys", most of them living in Great Grimsby. I notice somebody else on this list is interested specifically in a John Joys b. about 1810 in Grimsby.
