Have you got a William Higgs, stonemason in your family? Had a daughter Eliza born about 1850 - Gainsborough put as place of birth on 1871 census but cannot find her in the St. Catherines Indexes. Could have also had the name of Maria but known as Eliza.
Eliza married Joseph Stinson in Sheffield, Yorkshire when she was 19 in September 1869. Until I find her birth certificate I cannot go further in my research. Can you help?
