REID family of Bury - Bury
My gggrandfather was John REID who married Mary Ann SPARKS. The only information the family has of them is that they were from "Ramsay, Isle of Man" and subsequently of Bury and Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England. They had a daughter, Mona Henrietta REID, born in the 1840s. When still a child she was placed in child labor in the woolen mills in Lancashire, where she was made a ward of Thomas Schofield and Betty Robertshaw (a lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria). The Schofields joined the Mormon Church in Lancashire and emigrated to Utah in the United States in 1869. In that same year, Thomas Schofield married Mona Henrietta REID as his second (polygamous) wife. Thomas and Mona were my great grandparents. I recently learned of a John REID and Mary Ann PARKES of Bury with the identical dates and places corresponding to my ancestors. I would appreciate any information on this family that would help to determine their possible identities.

HAWORTH & DAVISON calico printers c1780 - Bury
Can anyone please help me find parents or relations for the following two couples? John Haworth, calico printer, married Ann Davison on 10 Nov 1794 at Bury St Marys: Richard Haworth, calico printer, married Hannah Davison at St Marys on 22 April 1806. Both Davisons were from a calico printing family in Carlisle. Richard was born in 1786/87 and gave his birthplace as Rossendale in censuses until his death in 1870. According to the 1841 census John was born in Lancashire in 1772/73. John and Richard are too close in age to be father and son: they may be brothers, or uncle and nephew or more distant relations. They both lived in Ramsbottom in the 1819s and close to Bury Ground printworks in the 1840s. They seem to have been C of E but I have not found a baptism for either. Does anyone have these two Haworths in their family, or have any pointers to who their parents were? Logically their father(s) would have been calico printers in the 1770s and 1780s, which could provide a clue as to location eg Crawshawbooth and/or Accrington and Darwen. Thanks Stephen
