I am trying to locate any direct descendants of Richard Abram c1876 of Burscough, he married Alice Watkinson in 1902. On 1901 census he was captain of a canal boat on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. I am researching my grandfather's working life and I believe that he worked with him. Any information will be very welcome.

Searching for information on Thomas McCarthy born Ireland married Catherine Mallett from Prescot.They lived at Lumbar Lane and then Joy Lane Cottage.Children were Winifred(she married Richard Grace)Charles,Mary(emigrated to Canada,don't know when)Thomas,Annie(my grandmother she married William Mansell)and Beatrice was the youngest. I have found out that Beatrice had twins in 1919 but they died shortly after birth and are buried in Warrington Cemetery,it would seem that Beatrice was unmarried atthe time. I am trying to trace the history of my family; John Duckworth (age 26)and Sarah Calvery (age 17 if you trust her death certificate or 20 on her marriage certificate?), who were married in Bury, Lancashire on 20/12/1850. They lived in King street andJohn was a bricklayer.John's father was James DUCKWORTH and he was a Printer. Sarah's father was Thomas Calvery and he was a mechanic. I think I have found details of John's birth: He was born on 27/2/1825 and Christened on 27/3/1825 at St Mary in Bury. His mother's name was Betty, which I suppose is an abreviation for Elizabeth. John and Sarah migrated to Adelaide, South Australia between 1850 and 1855, because their first born, Thomas Duckworth was born 22/12/1855 in Adelaide, SA. Sarah diedin Adelaide on 20/9/1872 at the age of 39(?). Can anybody provide me with additional information that will help me with continuing the search?

There seem to be a lot of people through the 19th century with the surname Kay living in Bury. I am particularly anxious to find a James Kay. His daughter, Mary, was born there in about 1831 and he seems to have been there until at least 1851. Hisdaughter married a Robert Barker from Stockport in Bury Parish Church, St Mary's.

Edwin Sidebottom - Bury
Please! Looking for info on Edwin Sidebottom and family. He was born in Charlesworth, Derby, in 1838. Died in Prestwich Lunatic Assylum in 1885. He was married to Elizabeth Cook Hyde at Manchester Cathedral in 1863. I would like to know whathappened to her as well. I know she was in a workhouse in the 1881 census. Their son, Arthur, came to America in the late 1880's. Two daughters, Lavina and Florence stayed in England. Lavina married Albert Unwin and Florence married Joseph Newton. Florence and Joseph lived in Chapel en le Frithe. I think Lavina and Albert lived in New Mills. I would like info on any of these people.

My grandfather Joseph Henry Hill (bc 1890) allegedly came from Bury. He married Lizzie Clay in Selly Oak, Birmingham on 2nd August 1915. He was a professional soldier and his address at marriage was given as Piershill Barracks, Edinburgh, his father Frederick, deceased was listed as being a brewer. His wife Lizzie died in 1936 at the age of 47, Joseph remarried a lady called Grace, He lived in the Birmingham area as did his sister named Louie who married Norman Jones, they had 2 sons Hector and Norman. I think that Joseph may have died in about 1956ish. Any info gratefully received. Sheila

Her occupation is listed as a Cotton Rover. I have a Anna Maria Kershaw born February 24, 1861 to parents Gulielmi Kershaw and wife Mariae Mc Donnell. Their children were Margaret, born 1868 in Edinburgh, Louisa born 1870 in Worcs, George Henry born 1871 in Sheffield, Clara born about 1875 in Sheffield and Edwin born 1878 in Manchester.
