William Robert Barnes and Augusta Irwen Angus - Chatham
My Great Great Grandparents came from Chatham in Kent. William Robert Barnes says, at their marriage, in 1837, in Chatham Parish Church, that his father was William Barnes, a fisherman. Augusta's parents were John and Mary Angus. John Angus was a carpenter from Scotland. William Robert and Augusta go on to have six children: Augusta Irwin, Maryann, Ann Sophia, Sarah Hannah, Julia and William Robert. William Robert senior describes himself as a painter at all these births and at the marriages of all his children, except for the two marriages of his son, with whom he lived for much of his life. In 1872, he is described as an artist and in 1884, he is an inspector of works. At his death in 1900, he is "formerly an inspector of painters London and Chatham and Dover Railway Pensioner". Has anyone come across this family? Do you have any more information? Kristin, London.
