The Prestons Of Pidley
- Pidley
My grandparents were married in the Pidley area about 1900. My grandmother was born Rosemary Woods and my grandfather was Walter Preston.
My father was born in Pidley Fen January 25, 1906 and was named Reginald Leslie (or perhaps Leslie Reginald). That same year he emigrated with his parents and older brothers to Canada. He was 6 months of age and throughout his life joked that he was the only one in the family who kept his breakfast down on the long ship ride over!
I travelled through Pidleyin 1989 only long enough to take a picture of the village sign, but I did stop and look in a local telephone book for Prestons in the Pidley area. There seemed to be quite a few.
Looking forward to hearing from family...
