John Johnson Smith went to London, baker, married Emma Austin, several children including John Henry Smith b 1845, married Harriett Ellen Goodeve, children William H, Muriel May (my grandmother) and Hubert.

Stephen John Smith (my ggrandfather) was a Corn Merchant and lived at Holme, Hunts. Children of the marriage were Leonard, Emmaline, Helen, Percy Edward (my grandfather), Florence.
Maryann died in 1880 and Stephen John married an Alice Walters. Theyhad a son named Valentine. The marriage did not survive and Alice and Valantine left for Australia.
Can you recognise this family? I will gladly share info.

Mary Baxter, mother of Ernie and John Baxter owned The Red Lion Pub in Houghton. Ernie lived near the mill and raised ducks. John lived in Huntingdon and owned the monument shop there.

The Greyhound Pub

My great-great grandparents were Henry
and Maria Baxter and lived on St. Eves according to the 1881 British census. They ran The Greyhound Pub which is now called The Unicorn.
They had three sons, John, Harry, Earnest and Leonard. John is listed asa stone mason, Harry a paperhanger, Earnest, a scholar. Leonard's profession is not listed. In 1899 Earnest Baxter is shown as the licensee of The Greyhound and was still there in 1924. I have a picture of the current Unicorn.

Am researching the family of John Ingle of Houghton, Huntingdonshire during the 1800's. His first wife was Alice Tod and she appears with him on the 1841 census. However, in the 1851 census John Ingle is shown as being married to Frances, (widow of Richard Earl). I am unable to find the date of Alice's death or the marriage date of John Ingle to his 2nd wife, Frances. Do they appear in your family tree?

John Balmer and wife Elizabeth were members of Huntingdon's All Saints Church around 1800....they baptized Mary Ann(1801), John(1803), William(1804), Louisa (1807) and my gggrandfather James (1809) at the Church. John and his sons were ornamental plasterer's doing fancy ceiling works throughout the U.K....John (Jr) and William continued the family business in Hunts while my James moved to Cambridge to start his own.

John and Julia Baxter owned a monument shop on High Street. John was a stone mason. They had four children, Blanche, Kathleen, Irene, Rose,
and Jack. They immigrated to Toronto, Ca in the late 1800's. John Baxter was actually born in Glasgow, Scotland. Julia's maiden name was Ellsworth and her family was of french descent and owned a candy factory near Devon. Julia's family was very much against the marriage as John Baxter was a stonemason. The family were members of St. Mary's church.

In 1851 the family was living in Kings Lynn Norfolk living at new conduit street He was workings as a carpenters labourer. Mother Elizabeth was 25. Children Mary Ann and William were with them. His sister in law Jane Claxton was living with them she was a nurse and 17 years old. Unmarried. Born in Rudham.
Daughter Elizabeth was born in 1858 in Romford Barking Essex.
In 1861 the family was living in Union Road Barking Essex Children Mary, Elizabeth and William was with them. John was working as a railway Laborer.

I live in Australia and am researching the Weaver and Barter sides of the family. The details I have are: George Alfred Weaver born about Jul/Aug/Sep 1853. I don't know WHERE he was born or who his parents were but I believe he married Clara Barter on 5th March 1877 in Adelaide, Australia.
Clara's parents were Henry Barter and Rebecca Crouch who married in Collingbourne Kingston in England in 1846.
They emmigrated to Australia in 1854 on the Navarino.
I can't find any more info than this so I wonder if my dates and details are correct. If anyone can help I will be most appreciative, Thankyou in advance, Carol.

I'm looking for any information on the Skeggs family from Huntingdon. Particulary Fanny Skeggs born c. 1823. I think her father was Thomas Skeggs and her mother was called Ann (surname unknown). Fanny was married to John Miller they lived in Cambridge and they had several children all with the surname Skeggs Miller. In 1871 I find Fanny Skeggs in the Cambridge Union Workhouse with a son called Phillip Skeggs while the rest of the family are all still living together in Cambridge. Does anyone know why?

Have found one mentioned on the first world war memorial at Ramsey - Edgar, son of Sam and Elizabeth Maycock who lived at 1 Gunthorpe Road Werrington, and was a native of Ramsey Hollow. We are researching my husband's family who were living near Kimbolton in the 1770s. The family had two sons christened at Upper Dean In 1775 and 1777. We are unable to find the christening of their son Edward Silby. The family moved to Easton Maudit Northamptonshire about 1780 and the father of John and Neal who were christened at Upper Dean died and was buried at EM in 1801. his name was Samuel Silby. His wife was called Elizabeth.
