Greens of Chadley Lane
- Godmanchester
I am currently researching my family history and was delighted to find my Great Grand parents house 11 Chadley Lane featured on the link to Searching for old houses on this forum.
I recently paid a visit to Godmanchester ( what a delightful place) and saw the house, but at the time did not realise it was the one I was looking for as I had an old photo from the 60's that my father had given me. I did however find my Gr grandparents graves just inside the gate of St Mary's - Harry & Delia Agnes Green.
My father has given me quite a lot of information that he can remember - he was a small child when he used to go to Godmanchester to stay with his Grandparents, but he did know that he had an Uncle Vince Green who lived at 9 Chadley Lane and James Hampton Green who lived at 7 Chadley Lane. He also remembers that his aunts Agnes Green and Eliza Green lived on Cambridge Road at either 50 or 54. Eliza's married name was Cousens (not sure of the spelling) and she had a son and a daughter called Paddy & Snooky (not sure if these were nicknames)
My father also says that his parents Violet Victoria Ward (nee Green) and Cecil Robert Ward lived at Letwell House in the 1920's.
I would love to know more if anyone can help putting missing pieces into the jigsaw.
many thanks
