My ggparents George FREDERICK Werrell and LUCY Tillier lived at 6 Brintons Road, Eastleigh, Hampshire County, Southampton District (1893-19--).My gf, CECIL Geo. was born there. I believe his Dad, Fred, worked for Railway or was a plumber. I think Grampa may have had a sister and definitely had a brother who may have had elispy. Shortly after his father died Grampa Cecil, age 8yrs, was sent to Canada to work on a farm. He was ashamed of this and gave few details. He brought his Mom to Canada circa 1920-30 where she died and is buried in Wakefield, QC where he eventually ended living. Most of his family are also dead and I would like to find out anything about this family.

Dunnings,William
- Eling
Born 1789. The story is that William was a child brought to England from france during the French revolution(1789) by his nurse who died soon after arrival. Cannot prove story. Points to note are(1) at the death in 1834 his age of 45 dated his birth at 1789 (2) if he was the legitimate son of Thomas Dunnings and Elizabeth Rabbet why is there no baptism for him? Eling is on Southampton water where emigrates from France would have landed. Cannot trace adoptions papers or anything written documents to link William with his "parents". (see also entry for John Dunnings)

COOPER PHILLIPS MYERS CHRISP LUKER
- Eling
From circa 1870 to 1900 two families in Eling served as wet nurses and temporary guardians to children born of an extra-marital relationship between a James John Myers of Southampton and an Annie Chrisp of Ryde and Southampton.
The two familes were Phillips and Cooper. The Phillips children all had the surname Myers and the middle name Chrisp. Most of them eventually went to live with their father in Southampton. (Seven Chrisp Myers children are recorded at their father's home in the '91 census although by '01 Myers was in the workhouse and died shortly after.)
The Cooper children were registered Myers but stayed with their guardians and eventually took their name. I am not absolutely certain that the 'Cooper' Myers had the same father as the 'Phillips' Myers but it seems probable.
A Caroline Luker (William Phillips' mother-in-law) pops up in various places during the period in question, generally in Eling, but on one occasion in Southampton as a 'servant' to Annie Chrisp and one of her Chrisp-Myers children.
If anyone is researching Cooper, Phillips or Luker families in Eling during the relevant period I would welcome the chance to compare notes.
