My Greatfather lived and worked at The Paper Mill in Golden Valley,when he was 17 he moved with Mr Sommerville to Creech St Michael near Taunton to set up the new paper mill there. looking for any links to John David Weir, who married Sarah Ann Knapp in Bitton in 1874. John was a french polisher, and Sarah worked in the Cotton factory in Barton Hill Bristol. Sarahs father was John Knapp a collier, and Johns father was John Weir. I don't know his occupation as the writing on the marriage certificate is almost illegible! I am trying to find decendents of William Morgan (c1811) and his wife Hannah Morgan (c1811) who lived at Black Road Oldland in 1841. They had at least two children George and Samuel. It is believed that both boys later moved to the Tipton/Burnt Oak/Dudley area of Staffordshire.

Whippers Hill - Bitton
Can anyone help with the location of Whippers Hill, Oldland? The Baker family were living there in 1841, 1851 and 1861. I know it was close to Cock Road because both addresses appear on the same census sheets. Later census returns show the family in Cock Road and then in 1901 at Gee Moor. I am looking for information regarding James Green, tailor and his sister, Jane Green (my g-g-grandmother, who married Edward Cox)from the town of Bitton. They (Jane and Edward) owned and operated the Swan Inn in Swineford. My g-grandmother's name was Emma Cox and she married my g-grandfather Edward Colston Parry I. My grandfather, Edward Colston Parry II was born in Bitton in December of 1868.

I am researching the life of my g-g-grandfather, Edward Colston Parry, b. 1842 in Bristol, U.K. to Joseph Colston Parry and Caroline Matilda Delatouche. He married Emma Cox and they had 6 children. The youngest was Gertrude H. Parry, born in 1887. She married Nelson Merritt. Edward left the family at some point and there is record of him marrying Helen Heley in Toronto in 1871. There is also reference to the birth of Sophie Colston Parry (in Toronto) with Amy Sophia Parry being her mother, and Edward Colston Parry as her father. Edward died in New York in 1925.

She was 20yoa. and he 68yoa. 2nd. Marriage - a clicker in the shoe trade, Francis Dove in Bristol.He was a German who anglicized his name from Taube.(Taube=Dove). They had 3 children, Walter, Anne and Frank. Francis died in Newport, in 1882. 3rd. Marriage - a Quarryman,George Turner in Bristol 1890. She was now 38yoa. and he 35yoa. they had no known children.
