Have established that Benjamin Wallis was living in Stanway between 1700 and 1720, as all his sons (no daughters?) were baptised there. Benjamin was probably born 1675-80, but where was he born and who were his parents?? Was he an incomer to Stanway? Who did he marry? Hi, Acacia Villa, Acacia Rd, Staple Hill was a big old house in it's own grounds with a huge Acacia tree and pond. Originally an old coaching inn. This was demolished in the 1960's and replaced with new houses. Does anybody remember it? Could there be a photo somewhere! Maybe the developers photographed it during planning stages, does anyone know who they were? My Mum, Dorothy Bressington (nee Biggs) has many happy childhood memories of her home - 1930-40's.
