William Dirham bigamy at Iron Acton
- Iron Acton
William Dirham of Westerleigh married Elizabeth Wall by licence at Iron Acton on 14.6.1798. A son William was buried at Iron Acton on 27.7.1800 with the Rector's comment in the register stating that the marriage of William Dirham and Elizabeth Wall was illegal as William Dirham "had a former wife living". the Iron Acton Vestry Minute Book contains the entry on 19.2.1800 "The Parish to be at the Expence of takeing of William Duram". If William Dirham (or Duram) was ever caught, he would appear before the Assize in the area of his arrest. Any suggestions about how this might be found?
