I am looking for siblings of Henry Williams (born in Dursley 1820. Henry married Charlotte Porter and at the time of emigrating to New Zealand was living in Coleford as a shoemaker. I have traced all his descendants in NZ but would like to find family in Gloucestershire. Charlotte died on the boat coming over (Brothers Pride) and Henry had 5 children to bring up, Eliza, Pamela, Miriam (baby), William, Joseph. My great great grandfather was William Brown, colliery proprietor; born around 1824 and married to Arabella (or Allabella?) Census info says they were both born locally but no record of their birth or marriage so far, still searching. Irish connection? Son AMOS lived in WYNOLS HILL MANSION in Broadwell, other children ARABELLA, FANNY, BENJAMIN, JANE, and EMMA my great grandmother (died 1940) who married SAMUEL ELLIS. their son BENJAMIN my grandfather was a colliery owner in business with Benjamnin Brown. Emma and Samuel Ellis also had Amos, Enoch, Alice, Ruth, William and Samuel. I am trying to trace any descendants of William Brown (all his great great grandchildren)and also find out about his ancestry.

Does anyone have a Hubert Thomas Lloyd in their family tree he was born in 1889 at Berry Hill West Dean near Coleford Monmouth his father was William Lloyd his mother Mary formally Frowen. I have a very old copy of his birth certificate I would love to pass on to his descendants if they are out there. He must have worked at a colliery in Cwmtillery Monmouthshire at one time also at Redbrook Tinplate Company near Monmouth. Can anyone help?

They came to Abertillery early 1900's and had their first of ten children, George being the first born, then David John Smith born 1908 which was my aunts husband. Having stayed with relations in Colesbourne as a child I am now interested in the history of the village. The cottages I am particularly interested in are behind the Colesbourne Inn pub and across the little bridge over the River Churn.
I think they were part of Colesbourne estate or Park and belonged to the Elwes family. I also attended the small village school in the late 50s.

Thomas Garner married Mary Jane Rowles, his family are noted as Gamekeepers at West Tytherley 1881 census.

The Whitehouse and Bentleys at the Swan Inn of Corse

My 2x gt grandmother was born at the Swan Inn in Long Lane Corse and Staunton in 1856. Her mother Elizabeth Whitehouse , her father John Bentley, and perhaps Elizabeth's brother William had children there over four or five years in the mid 1850s. They were travellers. William was to settle in his home town of Longton Staffordshire, and Elizabeth to marry Isaac Bentley and travel to Walsall, but for a while the families were passing through Corse on the way to markets presumably Ledbury and Tewkesbury. Does anyone know anything about such travels or the Swan Inn at this time?

Thomas & Ann married in Cromhall in 1783 and both died there in 1825.
Thomas came from a family of 5 from the Hawkesbury area.His ancestors were believed to have been Quakers and had been in Ireland.
Most of the family eventually moved away from Cromhall to places such as Tortworth,Tytherington,Stone, Berkeley and to other counties and overseas including Jonah who was transported to Tasmania( Van Diemens Land as a convict.
