I would be very interested to hear from anyone with info on the methodists in Cirencester in 1870-1900. Henry Hemming was a preacher, Agricultural trades union official, and very involved with the primitive methodists.In his later years in the 1890`s until his death in 1903 he kept a grocer`s shop in Cirencester. His sons Henry,Alfred and Frank all went to work at Cirencester station as clerks in the 1890s. I would like to know what the connection was. Who was the Station master at this time, and was he also a primitive methodist.

Searching for information on Walter BLACKWELL, b. ca. 1825 in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, died in Milton, Halton County, Ontario, Canada, December 29, 1901. Married before 1855 to Euphemia (Gordon or Dean)- have seen the 1841 and 1851 Census for Gloucestershire. In the 1851 Census Walter is listed as widowed (who was his first wife?) and living with possibly his grandparents? His grandfather is listed as a mason and/or stonecutter. When did Walter emigrate to Canada? Walter would later become a stonecutter and contractor in Canada - living at first in Durham, Glenelg Township, Grey County, Canada West then by 1871 the family had moved to Georgetown, Halton County, Ontario Canada. Sometime around 1874 the family moved to the Niagara Peninsual, first living in Niagara on the Lake, later in St. Catharines, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. The following children were born to Walter and Euphemia BLACKWELL - Hannah (b. 1855), John Dean (b. 1857), Caroline (b. 1858, d.1872), Mary (b. 1860, d. 1909), Keziah (aka Katherine) (b. 1862, d. 1942), Ella (b. 1868, d. 1943), Jay (b. 1867?), Eva (b. 1869?, d. 1876), Charles (b. 1871, d. 1872), Laura (b.1878, d. 1953)

I have been interested in henry hemming before as my grandmother, Annie hemming was adopted by a Methodist family who kept a tea shop in Upron-on severn circa 1905 I don't think there is a commection, but did wonder if the reason she was adopted by methodists was because of a family link.
