FRANK S BOLT- MANCHESTER WAREHOUSEMAN - Bristol
Does anyone know anything about Frank S Bolt who was born about 1858? He lived in Westbury on Trym at the time of the census in 1881 and 1891 and was described as a 'Manchester Warehouseman' employing 4 hands.In 1901 he had moved to Keynsham. Where was this warehouse? My great grandfather Job Frederick Biggs, who lived in Cheltenham, was a commercial traveller in 'Manchester Goods' and was related to Frank Bolt by marriage, and I am trying to find out more about his life as a travelling salesman.

Can anyone shed any light on Evans and Biggs please? My great grandfathers half brother James A. Biggs may have been part of this firm, possibly the co-owner. I know they were operating in Bristol around the middle of the nineteenth century somewhere in the centre of Bristol. Evans and Biggs could have been cousins.

Hiles Hunt Leonard Edwards - Bristol
I am researching the life of my ancestor, the Bristol artist, Bartram Hiles (1872-1927). Having lost his arms in a tram accident in 1880, he went on to train as an artist and to follow an artistic career. Whilst I am in touch with some other members of the Hiles family, I would be particularly interested in anyone who knows anything of Hiles' wife, Clara Louise , nee Hunt. Clara died in 1947. She was close to her sister, Alice Mary who was married to William Edwards. Alice and William moved to Trowbridge in the 1890s but returned to Bristol by 1911. Does anyone have any knowledge of Clara's sister? Clara and Bartram had a daughter, Aileen, who married Arthur Leonard of Bristol but died childless in 1936. What happened to Arthur? Bartram Hiles had 2 brothers, Albert Colston Hiles and William Henry Hiles. William moved to London by 1899. Does anyone have any information about Bartram's brothers?

Powell Family - Bristol
I'm researching the Powell family of - I think - Bedminster, Bristol. I have some details which I would like to confirm from the 1891 census The head being Thomas aged 38. They were, I understand, a Quaker family and reasonably well off! M My connection is my Grt Aunt Florence Doherty who married the youngest son John (Jack) in 1918. Flo was from Wigan but ended up living in various locations such as Clifton in the 1940's where she ran a theatrical boarding house in Whiteladies Rd and Patchway in the late40/ 50's. Jack Powell was, I am lead to believe, a bit of a rogue and disappeared - family legend has it that he was found floating in Liverpool Docks but this has never been proved... They had two children Madge who died recently and Derek who I believe lives in Spain. Any info very gratefully received!

Am seeking information on William Pines, Master Mariner, working out of Bristol to various overseas locations. He died in 1830. I'm yet to find his birth year and location. He had two wives, sisters - Charlotte & Ann (Nancy) Summers born in Minehead. His son, William Pitt Pines, (1804) was also a Master Mariner, out of Bristol - he seems to disappear around 1850 - am seeking his death. His wife Ellen, who was a Pillinger, died in Bristol in 1866. Am also seeking information on her family as well plus the Summers sisters' family.

Hi there ~ I'm looking for the parents of Edward Bowles, Esq. born in Bristol, (date unknown), but died 20 Jul 1800. he married Bridget Downing on 26 June 1755. (Bridget was the daughter of Dickson Downing b: 1701 d: 30 June 1745 and Bridget Baldwin b: 25 June 1705 d: 1801, all fron Bristol). The line to me from Edward Bowles is thru their child Lydia Downing Bowles who married James Fripp. Anything about Edward's parents (who I think are Edward Bowles and Anne Draper), would be so helpful so I can continue the line. Thomas Leonard Hicks, born c.1825-1827, lived in Cornwall Road Waterloo and Orsetet Steet in the 1850s, having moved from Wandsworth (garrett lane) where he married the widow Mary Pullen (nee Robbins of Warwickshire). No earlier trace of this Hicks line and would welcome information.

HONE - Brockworth
Giles Hone (born c.1600) married Hester (maiden name and place unknown): they had a son William, baptised in 1633. William married Elinore (name and date unknown) and had at least 1 child, Eleanor baptised in 1658; she married Thomas Derritt in Brockworth in 1688. Is anyone better acquainted with the Hone family in this period please?
