Braintree or Bocking - Braintree
I am descended from Sarah Patmore born 1786 dau of John Patmore and Elizabeth (Williams) of Braintree/Bocking. Sarah married Richard Battlebury in 1803 and many years later gave birth to a son in St Katherine Creechurch workhouse. The Patmore family paid for his keep at the workhouse when mother abandoned him there to remarry. Hence the Battlebury connection may be a red herring but the Patmore connection is real, I have copies of the monies paid to the workhouse for his keep and for his wooden leg by Ann Patmore (Sarah's sister in law?). Can anyone shed any light on this mystery? or help with previous antecedents? Any help much appreciated.
